Does it seem like you started the game in Co-op, but your partner is unable to control Daffodil? You’re playing the game in Co-op, but both players are controlling Stella?
Not to worry! This issue is easy enough to fix.
On PC:
There seem to be a problem with your SAVE_OPTIONS, which have recorded a different setup from the last time you played the game to now.
Here’s what you’ll need to do to fix it:
- Go in the game’s proprieties and disable cloud save / sync.
- Go to %AppData%\LocalLow\Thunder Lotus Games\Spiritfarer (Just copy and paste it in your file browser)
- Delete SAVE_OPTIONS.sav and SAVE_OPTIONS_BACKUP.sav
Boot the game - Voilà! Should be fixed (assuming you disabled the cloud sync properly. If not, go back to Step 1)!
On Switch:
Even though it look like your controllers are properly assigned in the menus, they actually aren’t.
To fix it, just go reassign them again in the Switch controller assignation menu from either in-game or the Switch’s main page. Once that’s done, go back to the game and you should have regained control of Daffodil.
To avoid this issue happening again on Switch, you’ll want to immediately press Continue or New Game after assigning the controllers. Going back to the Main Menu instead of proceeding to the game is what creates this issue.
If you are using two single Joy-Cons to play local co-op, this also might cause some problems. Thankfully, there’s a workaround. Turn off one of the Joy-Cons by pressing the button between the SR and SL keys, then pause the game and go to Options > Controller, re-assign the controllers. It should resolve the issue!
